He is someone who grew up with a very different lifestyle and being able to adapt to this new life of his is a victory. Alex was the type of person who did not favor killing animals and had mixed feeling over the subject. Other than "the relative proximity of the bus to civilization, for all practical purposes, McCandless was cut off from the rest of the world", for four months without seeing or interacting with anyone else (Krakauer 165).  I chose these quotes because they connected with this scene since they revolved around his home, the bus. The second quote, mentions how close Alex was close to civilization. I wonder, was he aware of that fact? I captioned this post "Who is Chris McCandless?" referring to the idea that he does not associate himself with his birth name anymore. May it be to not have a connection to his past, his father, or become a new version of himself. At the beginning of the book, it says 

"the hitchhiker swung his pack into the bed of the Ford and introduced himself as Alex.

'Alex?' Gallien responded, fishing for a last name.

'Just Alex'" (Krakauer 4). 

This is the first interaction shown in the book of Alex with his new name. This was the trip Chris most looked forward to. This title connects to the photo because the image is a letter to seek help. Alex was injured and poisoned so he wrote a letter goodbye, in hopes that someone would find his letter and rescue him. By the time the letter was found, it was too late. I titled this post "The End to My Great Alaskan Odyssey" because if Instagram was in 1992, this would be a great title for his S.O.S. letter to get attention. Also, it's very ironic to title this as an "odyssey," as Alex was very confident and sure that he would make it out alive. Look what you're making me do!" (McCandless) when he would physically abuse her. Walt is putting the blame on his daughter instead of owning up to his actions. This behavior of narcissism was very common from Walt toward his children. Chris and Carine both had their fair share of physical and mental abuse from their father. The book, Into the Wild, hides the ugly truth about their relationship with their parents, while The Wild Truth does not. You never know what is happening behind closed doors and Carine gave us a peek into their lives from her point of view.
