A reason first impressions become lasting ones is that new information in our brain is filtered through social schemas we had already formed about them (Nevid, 2012, p 488). The brain often finds the Golden Ratio of a face attractive and because of this, humans are attracted to average proportions of a person. (National Geographic, 2015). Another reason for attraction is facial symmetry because it often reflects that someone has good genes. (National Geographic. 2015). When brain waves overlap, it can bring long term attraction between two people.(National Geographic, 2015).
