Scientists believe that for most people, Alzheimer's disease is caused by a combination of genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors that affect the brain over time.

symptoms:
Memory loss and confusion are the main symptoms.

Of all the people who have Alzheimer's disease, about 5 percent develop symptoms before age 65. Most people with early-onset Alzheimer's develop symptoms of the disease in their 40s and 50s.

treatment:
No cure exists, but medications and management strategies may temporarily improve symptoms.

prognosis:

causes:
The exact cause of bipolar disorder isn’t known, but a combination of genetics, environment, and altered brain structure and chemistry may play a role.

symptoms:
Manic episodes may include symptoms such as high energy, reduced need for sleep, and loss of touch with reality. Depressive episodes may include symptoms such as low energy, low motivation, and loss of interest in daily activities. Mood episodes last days to months at a time and may also be associated with suicidal thoughts.

The average age of onset is 17.7 years old

treatment:
Treatment is usually lifelong and often involves a combination of medications and psychotherapy

prognosis: 
Likelihood of recurrence is almost certain, as the vast majority of patients have more than 1 lifetime episode. Although considerable variability exists regarding relapses across individuals with bipolar disorder, it is generally believed and supported by the evidence that, over time, episodes become more frequent and that the euthymic intervals become shorter in between episodes. Subsyndromal symptoms may be chronic for some patients with bipolar disorder.

age it appears:
The behavioral symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often appear early in development. Many children show symptoms of autism by 12 months to 18 months of age or earlier.

treatment:
Communication training and behavioral therapy can help people with the syndrome learn to socialize more successfully.

prognosis: 
age at intervention has a direct impact on outcome--typically, the earlier a child is treated, the better the prognosis will be. In recent years there has been a marked increase in the percentage of children who can attend school in a typical classroom and go on to live semi-independently in community settings. However, the majority of autistic persons remain impaired to some degree in their ability to communicate and socialize.

Parkinson's disease is a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder that affects one in 100 people over age 60. While the average age at onset is 60, people have been diagnosed as young as 18. 

treatment:
Medications can help control the symptoms of Parkinson's.

Seek immediate medical attention after a bite or suspected bite. There is no specific treatment for rabies. Once symptoms appear, it's nearly always fatal. A vaccine can prevent infection.

will be almost fatal unless treated
