I got to work with house band, so I wrote out the chords and when they're played with the lyrics. This sesson made me realise that it is this song I'd like to continue my project with. Having these chords with placement made it very easy to communicate how I wanted everything to sound with the house band and they also gave me some helpful tips.

This week I had a mini surprise performance in front of the class as a part of a songwriters circle. I didn't know I'd be participating in this at the start of the lesson so it was a bit of a shock at first but then I took this as opportunity to improve my confidence and it ended up going ok. I performed my song, "Martian Man" as not many people have heard it yet and I was eager to get an audiences opinion on it.

We were set a task of trying to include our imperfections in our songwriting. By doing this I wrote this song, "Probably Never", the imperfection I decided to keep was that I accidentally forgot to write a bridge. I ended up quite liking this song and hope to develop it, keeping this imperfection.

I've read over the criteria needed for the summative and I've came up with a better idea to what I was doing. Before, I thought that the easiest way to show variation would've been to do the same song in 2 different genre's but this would've made SO MUCH work for myself and honestly could've ended quite badly as I've only ever really written in one genre. So after looking back on my strengths, I'm going to show variety in a different way; doing an accapella version of my song. I'm also going to change to a more softer and gentle song I wrote as I find it easier to make accapella versions of acoustic songs, so my summative song will now be, "probably never".

I changed the key so I could sing "probably never" more comfortably. I also changed the song ever so slightly by taking out the "ohh's" and adding an imperfect cadence at the end of the song on the lines "to her".

The overall response of the song was very positive. People loved the stripped back feel of just the vocals and piano. Everyone also far preferred the piano version to the guitar I played in the songwriters circle last week. The only constructive feedback I was given was that it felt too repetitive so to change the melody or structure at some point.

I used this weeks songwriter circle to show my summative piece and get feedback on how to improve the song. Listening back to the video, I now think the song needs harmonies all the way through or even a two part melody. Some peers also suggested that in the outro to have the chorus again underneath as the lines "for her". I think this is extremely good feedback and will try to incorporate this.
