I did not go to college immediately after graduating high school in the early 90's. Instead, I got a job immediately and worked in an automotive manufacturing production facility making life saving airbags for 12 years. Then, I became a mother, and became a stay at home mom for 11 years. I decided to start school in 2013. I received my Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology from Rio Salado in 2015. I then went on to receive my Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies - Technology Management from NAU in 2017. I have since worked as an Instructional Assistant and a Substitute Teacher for Mesa Public Schools since 2018.

Feelings About Becoming a Certified Teacher

I am pursuing my Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Certification in Elementary Education. I am excited and nervous about getting my teaching certification. I loved reading to my own children when they were pre-school aged. It was fun to teach them their ABC's and how to write their names. I also loved teaching as a teacher's assistant in a special education classroom for the 2018-2019 school year. On the other hand, I am also nervous to become a teacher. Now that I have a semester of substitute teaching under my belt, and I have been in many classrooms, I have seen how disrespectful a lot of students seem to be nowadays. It has been a real eye opener. Luckily, this mainly seems to be at the junior and high school level from what I have observed. I am very excited about learning as many classroom management tips and suggestions as I can from this Classroom Management course.
