  1. (at the beginning of a unit) guiding questions--pre assessment of concepts GOING to learn in the unit (form of "discussion" questions); students have to ask a certain number of people and record their answers

  2. (sometimes) a partner share about either questions in a reading or PREVIEW questions before a writing assignment

I have discussion questions.


or we look at a comic and I ask the students to tell me what is going on.

I introduce the topic or grammar. Then I use the book for practice.

I get them to question or practice conversations in pairs or read together and answer comprehension questions.

I sometimes include group projects and role play.


I use mini board games for review questions ( in groups).
