The picture at the bottom of a broken eggshell represents how all the promises that Rex told Jeannette were just lies because he never did something indeed to make those promises come true. Also when Rex told Jeannette that he was going to stop drinking which never happened.
One time Rex told Jeannette "we are going to build a glass castle," this quote is one of many that represent the theme Broken Promises because Rex never built the glass castle it was just another lie. It's really sad how Jeannette parents never took responsibility of them, not even if they were their children. All the hard work that Brian and Jeannette did to build the foundation was worth nothing.

The picture at the bottom of two siblings hugging each other represents Jeannette and Brian because when they were kids they were inseparable. Brian would do anything to protect her sister. Brian and Jeannette would get along very well they would help each other.
When Jeannette moved to New York with Lori, Jeannette told Lori that Brian should moved with them to New York. This quote represents the theme Unconditional Love because Jeannette wants the best for Brian. Once Brian was in New York Brian just to wait for her sister to get off work so they would walk together to their house because they lived in Bronx a dangerous hood but they had been through a lot of bad situations.

Fantasy vs Reality

The picture at the bottom of sign that shows which way is to get richer and poorer represents the different decisions that everyone chose in their lives. The fantasy was that Rex and Rose were going to become responsible parents the reality was that Rex was going to be an alcoholic forever and Rose was just going to be the same hypocrite person that was to their children.
Rose thought that she was going to become a professional painter the reality was that she was very poor ton afford her tools to paint . One day Rose came home and she asked for a piece of margarine that was in the refrigerator but her kids ate because they were very hungry since they are too poor that they don't even have clean water to drink. This quote represents the the Fantasy vs Reality.

The picture at the bottom shows a mom and daughter hugging each other. This represents how Jeannette forgives her mom even though she was an irresponsible parent that wouldn't do anything to improve the lives of her own children. Jeannette was the type of women that knows what is wrong and what is the truth about her family.
When Jeannette moved to New York and then she started making her own money she found Eric. Eric was her husband, he was a nice guy the completely opposite of her dad. Time passed, Jeannette found out that her parents had moved to New York, she was surprised. Jeannette was the most humble person you can imagine that she built a house for her mom in West Virginia. This quote represents how Jeannette forgives her mom even when she suffered because of her decisions.

The picture at the bottom of a woman shows she is putting on her earrings which represents Coming of Age. Jeannette was becoming a women that would become independent. I think this picture can relate with Brian because he also moved to New York with Jeannette and they both had a job and were earning their own money.
After Jeannette moved into Eric's apartment for four years she married him. This represents the theme Coming of Age because they were making their own decisions, also they were independent, they were making their own money.
Also Brian became a police officer. This represents how Brian was becoming a man that was responsible, not like his dad that wouldn't even look for a job.

Acceptance

The picture at the bottom shows a woman staring at herself and it shows how you need to accept yourself the way you are. For example, the Wall's family accepted that they were very poor and that they had eat out of the trash can or any food that they can find.
Lori, Jeannette and Brian work hard to be someone in life. They all moved to new York to have a better life.
A good example for this is when Rex die. This represents how everyone lives the way they want just like Jeannette said. Rex chose to be an alcoholic and that's why he died at the age of 60 of a heart attack. Jeannette was right everyone lives the way they want, she worked hard to have her own money and not be poor like she was before. She became a millionaire and she started out of nothing. This shows how everyone can make it you just need to accept the way you are.
