So, the people of the world at this time only spoke one language. How amazing! They settled in a city and started to build their city. And then, they decided that they wanted to build a tower to Heaven so they could make a name for themselves, or they'd be scattered across the face of the earth. However, when the Lord came down to see the city and its tower, he declared that if the people suddenly spoke different languages, then their plans would not be beyond them. The Lord then confused the people's languages and, since they couldn't understand what anyone was saying, spread them to different parts of the world, hence why the city was named Babel. (Later on, Babel is well-known as Babylon).

               The end.

The theme of the Tower of Babel puts emphasis on man's thoughts about accomplishments versus God's perspective on the said accomplishments. For example, the people made their own bricks instead of building with stone, and using tar instead of mortar. They built the city to honor themselves, instead of giving blessings to God.
