I also looked at ESOL pc and they were  lots of  prior research too one of which captured  my attention  and start my reflection and that the barriers of listening skills many times I noticed the learners struggling with the speaker speed and the accent .The article was published in 2oo5 by Yiching Chen. I am not sure, still looking.

There is one student in my class who often struggles to engage in the lesson, behave appropriately or communicate with the group/staff. She is in the same class as some who are a lot more able academically and socially. This can often be PC as her social/emotional level can limit her progression. It is often seen as learnt behaviours that she has to get a response from staff. Not sure where im going to go with this.... but im looking. I want to look at promting positive behaviours increasing her independence towards work. Does this sound like something to go with?
