The wide reach of social media has also enabled greater access for the general public to contribute their thoughts and process the thoughts of others. However, the extremity of the services that social media has provided has also exacerbated the same issues of the dissemination of information that previously existed. In a world of hot takes, influencers, politics, and other sins, social media has provided the infrastructure for a burning house. Outlets such as Facebook are infamous for political bots (mostly Russian) attempting to manipulate public opinions, and the taking of personal information to be sold; a grievous violation of privacy. Twitter, meanwhile, is a festering tumor for the toxic policy of cancel culture, in which groups have, en masse, witch-hunted various people who have become undesirable in the public eye; the 1st Amendment has been flogged through the number of people destroyed for simply possessing an unpopular opinion or having made a regrettable comment or mistake in the past.
