During the year 1917, a group of American suffragists known as the "Silent Sentinels" led by Alice Paul began picketing the white house in an attempt to convince Wilson to support Women's Suffrage. Even after Wilson was convinced and supported women's suffrage, it was to no avail. When addressing the Senate, Wilson favored women suffrage, but the Senate rejected women's suffrage by two votes in 1918.
