Aztec had a form of government called a monarchy, and provided leadership, military, and enforced many laws.

1. Laws and Officials
Aztec laws were based on royal decrees and on customs that had been passed down from generation to generation. Aztec laws covered many aspects of their daily life (Aztec-History.com). Punishments were harsh and sometimes had to be held efficiently in a system of court. Cihuacoatl was in charge of making the laws and running the government daily. There was also a group of generals called the Council of Four that controlled the military and laws (Nelson, Laws).

2. Leadership
Aztec had many officials, emporers, and a military. The Aztec empire was made up of a series of city-states called altepetl. Each altepetl was ruled by a supreme leader (Texas). Aztec had an important leader named Huey Tlatoani. Aztecs felt that he was appointed by the gods and had the divine right to rule. When an emperor died, the new emperor was chosen by a group of high ranking nobles (Nelson, Aztec Gods).

3. Military
Many Aztecs trained for war in their early days, because Aztec thought it was an important skill to have in a civilization. Aztec had neighboorhood schools called telpochcalli that boys age six and seven would attend for military children. Aztec had different rankings for their military. When the warrior had captured or killed four men he was given the title tequina (Aztec Military). When done conquering, he would receive a tribute from the land conquered (Aztec Military).

Ancient Aztecs made numerous advancements in technology that benefited their empire's thriving economy.
1. Weaponry
The Aztecs did not have iron or bronze to make great weapons. They used obsidian and chert. When the Spanish came, the Aztecs made an advancement to copper weapons (Aztec-History.com). Many people used a weapon called tlachtli. Some of these advancements were evident in their weapons, tools, calendars, and medicine (Aztec Technology).

2. Writing/Education
The Aztecs wrote using symbols called glyphs or pictographs. They didn't have an alphabet, but used pictures to represent events, items, or sounds (Nelson, Writing). Aztecs had many materials including books, graphs, animal skin sheets, and plant fiber sheets. Priests were the only people who knew how to write and read, and would teach the kids in Aztec. One of the innovations the Aztecs had before much of the rest of the world was mandatory education for all. Everyone, boys and girls, rich and poor, as required by law to attend school (Nelson, Writing).

3. Farming tools (Chimampas)
Aztec agriculture in the heart of the empire used chinampas for their crops (Snedden). Chinampa is a method of farming that used small, rectangular areas to grow crops on the shallow lake beds in the Mexican valley (Aztec Agriculture). Chinampas were Aztecs greatest successes and continued to keep their civilization have a supreme stable food supply.

Although Aztec had many successes, therefore trade/economy wasn't the best in Aztec since Aztec was a small empire, only near few city-states.
1. Trade systems
The Aztec economy was based on three things: agricultural goods, tribute, and trade. By the time the Spaniards arrived almost everyone in Mesoamerica was speaking Nahuatl, which was the language of the Aztecs (Maya Inca Aztec, Trade). Unfortunately Aztec didn't trade with many people. Aztec had to travel to a specific place and meet to get the goods Aztec needed to keep their civilization thriving.

2. Traveling/ Navigating
Aztecs traders traded throughout traveling to places. Aztec, at the time didnt, have any water platformed wood to sail on. They relied on their muscle power to bring it all back home. There were many trade routes all throughout the Carribean (Maya Inca Aztec, Trade).

Aztec religion has many cultural elements in their Mesoamerican culture, showing dancing, singing, traditions, and music.

1. Traditions
Aztec had many religious ceremonies and celebrated every year. Their calendar was very important to Aztecs because they held a number of religious ceremonies and festivals throughout the year. The largest of the Aztec festivals was the Xiuhmolpilli. It was held once every 52 years in order to prevent the world from coming to an end (Nelson). People were selected to impersonate the gods. Many Aztecs enjoyed cultural music and large festivals. Aztecs had instruments that they would play every time a tradition occurred. Aztec portrays there religion in art in their buildings and shows great wonder on the modern world today.

2. Gods
Aztec had many gods in a social structure that all played a role in the Aztec empire. Despite worshiping many gods, there were certain gods that the Aztecs considered more important and powerful than the others. The most important god to the Aztecs was Huitzilopochtli. Huitzilopochtli was the sun god and the sun played a big role in the Aztec civilization (Nelson).
The top to bottom ranking of the gods was Huitzilopochtli, Tlaloc, Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca, and Chicomecoatl. They all remarked as important gods to their city-state (Nelson).

3. Food
Aztec had a rich combination of foods consisting of veggies, protein, wheat, and meats. Maize was the main plant-based grain source in the Aztec empire. Aztecs kept a very minimal diet of Mexican. Their foods included beans and squash (Aztec-History.com). Aztecs found many different substances and other items to create food, just how they made algae bake into bread and other cheese type foods (Aztec-History.com).

Aztec was a flourishing empire that was quite advanced in many ways including government, religion, and technology, that lasted from 1300 to 1521. Aztec had successes and unsuccesses, from the government to trade and economy. Aztec had made their civilization thrive in many ways. Creating new supplies without the help of other city-states, making a huge produce farming section, and learning ways to work together as an empire. I truly believe Aztec worked efficiently and determined themselves as being the greatest civilization.

Although the Aztecs government was supreme, their system of rulers soon got destructed and it caused the empire to fall.

1. Ruler system
Aztec usually had to deal with minor rebellions that typically took power over Tenochtitlan. When the Spanish arrived, rebel states would seize their opportunity to gain their independence (Cartwright). Many leaders started coming in and conquering. Soon then, Cuauhtemoc, who at the time led the Aztecs, collapsed on the fateful day of 13th of August 1521 CE. Not too long after, a new Mesoamerican civilization came (Cartwright).

2. Sacrifice among government
Many Aztecs did not complete tasks as a worker in Mesoamerica. Therefore human sacrifice was a big concern in keeping the population stable. When a person wouldn't complete a task it would displease the god. Then the person would have to sacrifice themselves for what they have done, or the whole civilization would be distraught. It was a big problem because Aztec was losing many people for their horrible behavior " Decline of the Empire".
