There are billions of people on this beautiful planet, and every person who comes to this life will have a different journey. When I write about myself, it is quite awkward because this is the very first time I try to tell my story and what makes the person I am today because of the trip. Firstly, my name is Hung Hue Lan and I will be 20 this August. Growing up in a Chinese-Vietnamese family in Ho Chi Minh city, I always feel lucky enough to enjoy traditions from two different cultures as part of my family life.

Currently, I am a second-year student at RMIT Saigon South Campus. My major is International Business. I decided to follow this major because it not only helps me to understand more about my family business but also can help me follow my dream job that can work in NGOs or NPOs, which could improve our community rights or standards of living. I feel glad to be a part of RMIT, which has such wonderful friends, helpful and friendly teachers.

My student life at RMIT is unique. I only take 2-3 courses in one semester which take 3 hours per course per week. That is the reason why I spend less time in the classroom than other students from other schools. Indeed, people cannot study solely from books. I also participate in the RMIT Golden Flames Competition Club, which is a playground for ambitious students to connect and learn from each other and through industry contests and internal seminars. I don’t play any sports at school because I am not a sporty person, in my free time, I usually gather my friends to try to learn something new together or exchange ideas about some topics we would care about. In my opinion, friends are the most accurate reflections of a human. In reality, the group of friends you want to hang out with shapes your attitude and values. In my environment, I am lucky to have the greatest ever mates. If people look for an awesome university in Ho Chi Minh city, my campus would stand out for some reasons. Firstly, we do not take over four courses in one semester helping us focus more on our career core values instead of taking over five courses at the same time but only pay attention to theoretical examination as many Vietnamese universities do. Secondly, we have more chances to connect with industry experts to learn from their journey. Then, the curriculum pays more attention to practical valuse in the field rather than learning only to theory. Besides, we learn in a dynamic environment which enhances our academic and soft skills at the same time.

Ho Chi Minh City ( Sai Gon) is the financial hub in Vietnam. Established in 1698, Saigon Gia Dinh was considered an administrative unit under the Nguyen Dynasty, attracting people from over the country to come and settle. Later, during the mid-to late-nineteenth century, it became the capital of Cochin-China, which was ruled by the French. Then, from 1956 to 1975, Saigon served as the capital of South Vietnam until the country was unified. Today, the city has established itself as Vietnam's commercial, economic, educational, scientific and technological, health-care, and tourism hub. People from all over Vietnam come to work in Ho Chi Minh City, taking with them their hometowns’ recipes that eventually shape the exciting culinary scene of the metropolis. This city never sleeps, it is open 24-7 and home to many restaurants and cafes serving different kinds of food and drinks around this planet. It has all types of entertainment that people would look for. Ho Chi Minh city offers two types of entertainment: Vietnamese-style and Western-style. If you choose the first option, you can take part in some cultural activities, religious festivals held throughout Vietnam to understand more Vietnamese cultures. Moreover, it is a good idea that people can join some music tea-room to enjoy the performance of Vietnamese musicians as well as some international singers. Otherwise, if you intend to explore Western life in Ho Chi Minh city, clubs, bars and pubs are the best choices for you to taste the nightlife and meet some foreigners and local people.

Since Lunar New Year 2020, my daily life has changed a lot. I canceled many plans because of the restricted policy in Vietnam. In the first few months since Coronavirus spread in Vietnam, we have to change our ‘normal life'. It was hard to adapt at the beginning, however, we get used to it. Everyone has to care more about their health, hygiene and update news about COVID-19 from local newspaper. In a public place, people have to wear masks and follow social distancing advice from the government. Travelling needs to be limited, especially overseas. Many students gave up their studying abroad plan despite preparing their CV for a long time. Exchange students from international collaborating programs also could not come to Vietnam so many universities short of international students (Thoa & Nhan 2020). The consequence of the pandemic could be seen as 1.3 million people in Vietnam lost their job in 2020 (Tuoi Tre news 2021), the commodities prices increase steadily (Vietnamnews 2021) while the economic growth slips to a 30-year low record (Nguyen 2020). Higher community prices make everything more expensive while the salaries are lower. Exporting also decreases while Vietnam is an exporting-oriented country because of the lockdown in many countries. Despite the economic impact of COVID-19, Vietnam's economy has remained resilient (Samuel2020) due to strict quarantine policies and the absolute tracking of all people associated with the virus (Anh 2020). At the time I write these sentences, the pandemic is controlled in Vietnam, however, out of the border, many countries still need to deal with the spread of Coronavirus, especially India. The case number surges every day and it does not have any signs that the situation will be improved shortly. Hospital beds are unavailable, while this country lacks doctors and medical staff. People ask for help, plead for hospital beds and oxygen cylinders on Twitter every day. People are dying in hospital corridors, on roads, and in their homes. The Oxygen cylinder market is booming. However, thanks to the internet, people all over the world take part in many programs that donate money or medical machines, drugs that could support India during this terrible period. I hope that India can overcome it shortly. Please support and pray for India.

I cannot be described in a few sentences. What I have learned myself from my journey is that one should be confident, positive in all situations.
