Casanova is a 2005 American romantic film directed by Lasse Hallstrom which is based on the life of Giacomo Casanova who was played by Heath Ledger.

1. Casanova's background
Casanova is a man who was left behind by his mother and start to live in his own, in a city named Venice. His name is acknowledge all over the city because of his lust for women. Casanova has a butler who serves him wherever he is.

2. Casanova found his true love
Casanova fell in love with a woman named Fransesca who writes illegal feminist books under the name of a man, Bernardo Guardi. Fransesca writes the book because she wanted to equalize man and woman rights. Fransesca was forced by his mother to marry a rich man from Genoa names Paprizzio, in order to be able to pay her debts. At first, Casanova thought that Fransesca had a secret love. After knowing that, Casanova tried to reveal the truth by following her and infiltrated her work place. At last he found out that she had no secret lover. (In this scene you can learn that there is gender conflict in which man and woman status was differentiated, woman arent allowed to get education and lives to satisfy men.)

3. Casanova was chased by higher-ups
A famous Venice's inquisitor, Bishop Pucci tried to arrest Casanova who was chased down by the government. Bishop Pucci trying to track down Casanova by sending his subordinates to hunt him down in every corner of the city. One day, when there is a Carnival in the City, Bishop Pucci succeeded to find his true identity because he found the real Papprizio and forced to tell truth about who is Casanova.

4. Casanova escaped the city
After being arrested by Bishop Pucci, Casanova and Fransesca were sentenced to death in public. Soon after that, Casanova's mother and his step father saved both of them by pretending to be a cardinal and said that the execution was cancelled because it is the pope's birthday. The disguise was revealed by Bishop Pucci, but he is to late and failed to chase down Casanova and the others. In the end, Casanova succeed to escape far away from the city with the others.
