Having too much on a display can overwhelm the customer and their senses, this can be caused by to much contrasted colour and too many items on display making it look messy in the end. Customers tend to just walk away if displays are too congested. Such as Tk Maxx with their planogram layout, it can get quite congested for example.

Curry's PC World uses digital display boards very well. They are using premium quality/resolution digital display boards to advertise certain products as well as important services to inform customers on how diverse their services are. Certain products such as; new phones, laptops, smart watches etc. This is effectively appealing to customers it gives them a visual source of information to others so they can fully understand and take in what they are looking at.
On the other hand, Tk Maxx does use digital display boards in larger stores where its a marketing necessity due to the larger demand of customer and sales targets, in smaller stores they are rarely seen as they might be to expensive to run for smaller stores.

The benefit of shelving displays is that is shows what products a store has and informs the customer of different products they may have, so if a customer was wanting to purchase something else, they would then see the items on display and think that they would need the them as well. In Tk Maxx they have so many clothes hung up that are categorised in-terms of the type of clothing they are, so for example; t-shirts, shirts, jackets, shorts, polo tops and many others but the technique is that you looking for something but then find something that they weren't looking for but they buy it anyways as they like it.

Making sure that the signage corresponds with the product and that the prices also match, as this can make the whole think fail the as with too much information it just gets ignored. Having the wrong signage/pricing would mean that the customer might feel like they have been cheated as its been displayed as the wrong price, then the customer wouldn't be very pleased, especially if they were thinking on purchasing the product as well.

The four display techniques of visual merchandising.

There are 4 main display techniques used within visual merchandising, these are;
- Rule Of Three
- The Pyramid Principle
- Price Point
- Data-Driven Retail Execution
----------------------------------------------------------------
What these four display techniques are, and what they are
used for.

1) Rule Of Three
The 'Rule Of Three' sounds how it is. Visual merchandising
experts tend to use the rule of three as it's visually appealing to the
customer meaning that it is an effective eye catcher for consumers, that is
designed to embed what they see into their heads.

2) The Pyramid Principle
'The Pyramid Principle' is the effect of using a triangle merchandising display method to ensure that larger items are shown first then, smaller ones next to them creating more of a 'focal point' for the larger items, much like pyramid. using this method also helps with the efficiency/optimising space on the shop floor, giving the display some life to it, not being 'boring' or 'flat' catching eyes of browsing customers.

3) Price Point
Price point is a very good way to increase sales, and to make consumers aware of any deals or new products a store has, as having larger signs for certain products that are perhaps on offer, new or even expertly suited to customers 'Our Experts Love' which is what Curry's PC World uses, selling products that are only available to them. There are also events such as Black Friday where majority of all stores lower their prices on arrange of products Smaller items should have smaller signage as they aren't more of a mundane/everyday kind of product i.e; a kettle or a toaster.

4) Data-Driven Retail Execution
With data-driven executions, its companies analysing the data that they collect from weekly sales, what displays are working and which aren't, stock layout (planograms) this sort of understanding of company data is important for the success of a business which need this data to improve and keep customers interested in them and their products.
