My father said that the American dream is, “Having the opportunity to be able to work hard and to achieve your dreams”. I asked him whether or not someone can fail at achieving their American Dream, “I think if you work hard you will achieve some success, you work hard and keep trying.” I then asked my father if his parents influenced his opinion on the American Dream or who did, “I don't remember my parents giving me advice, I’m sure they did. I just remember my grandfather telling me to get an education and work hard”. My father said he wanted to be an Engineer when he grew up but he ended up being a Director of Merp and transfer station operation (management). I then asked him whether or not he thought he achieved his American dream, “Yeah, I think my dreams have come true, I have a beautiful wife and a wonderful family, all are healthy. We’re not financially challenged”. Reyna was enrolled into a class in the summer that was required for her to go to college. Her teacher Diana Savas was a big inspiration to her and pushed Reyna to follow her dreams as a writer. “I couldn’t have known what the future held for me. All I could do back then was to allow myself to dream.” (307) To achieve the American dream you need to figure out what you want to do in your life. The American dream is still alive to those who want it. Some people doubt that the American dream is alive and think the American dream is only for certain people. "Anyone could move to America and have a chance at succeeding. It was one of the things that made the country stand out from others". This is a statement from the article I've chosen, it supports that living in America gives you the opportunity to achieve your America Dream. "It's not impossible for groups to achieve the American dream, but you will have to work harder".
