These are procedures, activities, methods, hacks, etc that have worked well for you early on -- and function as both celebrations and shareable ideas. If possible, post a picture and brief explanation of this.

Metacognition...at the first grade level! After reading a book as a class, students discussed what they now know and what they can do with it. Their level of insight in the reflective parts -- "Books help us think about what we have learned and share that with others" especially -- was really impressive. Mrs. McGaha prompted them (Socratically) for answers, following up each answer with a next Depth of Knowledge question (What part of the book showed this? Why do you think that's the case? How can we summarize what you said?) and had great buy-in, with each of these answers coming from a different student as they jockeyed to get theirs written on the board.

They know she will get to each one of them while they practice individually, and then work back the podium/board for the next step of direct instruction.

I have had a lot of success teaching new coding skills to my 8th graders this year. We have started coding lessons in the past, but I have never had a group this advanced this early in the school year. I am excited to see what we are able to accomplish as the year goes on!

Science Notebook - Interactive - We draw, define, discover in this notebook. It helps them have long term success as well as weekly success as they work through the standards. Maybe a lower test taker - can find success in the drawing portion. Or maybe a student who struggles with workload -can pace themselves to finish as there is consistent structure.
