Their level of insight in the reflective parts -- "Books help us think about what we have learned and share that with others" especially -- was really impressive. Mrs. McGaha prompted them (Socratically) for answers, following up each answer with a next Depth of Knowledge question (What part of the book showed this? Why do you think that's the case? We use graphic organizers in the classroom and add to them as we go along. We also use the notecard function on the new smart boards and add key concepts to each lesson.
