Christianity

Christianity is the worlds most widely practiced religion with over 2 billion followers worldwide. Christian belief is centered around the idea of the birth life death and Resurrection of Jesus. Christians are monotheistic, that there is on,y one god, who created the heavens and the earth. the divine godhead consists of the father, the son, and the holy spirit. most of the first Christians were Jewish converts, and the earliest churches were centered in Jerusalem. Christianity spread rapidly through the world the the teachings of the apostles and most importantly Paul. Jesus is credited as the founder of Christianity. i believe that if Jesus saw Christianity today he would be disappointed with what it has become. many people associate Christians with being anti LGBT and racist which is in my opinion not what Jesus would have wanted. Jesus preached that you should love thy neighbor and to not be hypercritical yet the stereo type of Christians today is that they are opposite of those beliefs. .

Islam is the worlds second largest religion behind Christianity with about 1.8 billion believers world wide. Islam is said to have started in around the seventh century making it the worlds youngest major religion. Islam originated in mecca which is located in what is now Saudi Arabia. The founder of Islam is Muhammad who also lived in the 7th century. Muslims(followers of Islam) are monotheistic meaning they worship and follow only one god, who in Arabic is known as Allah. Muslims live a life of complete submission to Allah. they believe nothing can happen without permission from Allah. however all humans have free will. Muslims believe that there were several prophets sent to teach the laws of Allah. they respect the prophets of Jews and Christians but believe that Mohammad is the final one. if Mohammed saw the religion today i think he would be disappointed with how people view it. in today's society people associate Muslims and Islam with terrorism. so i think he would be upset that they view it with such fear and disrespect towards it.

Confucianism

Confucianism is more of a way of life rather than a religion founded by the philosopher Confucias in china around the sixth or fifth century BCE. Confucianism had a great effect on social, political, and spiritual life in china. Confucianism strongly emphasizes, mercy, social order, fulfillment of responsibility. people are able to accomplish this by having specifically defined roles as well as acting towards others in the proper way. Ren is the main principle, and is equivalent to the concepts love, mercy, and humanity. It is best explicated by Confucius when hes says, “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself.” This ethical principle is further strengthened by the Buddhist tradition that merit is accumulated by doing merciful acts, which leads to a better next life through reincarnation. today there are about 6 million followers of Confucianism, however most follow another religion like Buddhism as well.

Zoroastrianism is an ancient religion that started in Persia around 4,000 years ago.most people would argue that it is was the first monotheistic religion in the world. Zoroastrianism was the state religion of all three of the Persian dynasty. Zoroastrianism today has only about 100,000 - 200,000 followers today and is practiced mostly in parts of Iran and India. Zoroaster is the founder of this religion. most of what we know bout him comes from the Avesta which is a group of religious scriptures. followers of Zoroastrianism go to worship at a Temple called fire temples, where there is an alter with an eternal burning flame.there is said that there were three fire temples called the great fires, were said to have come directly from the Zoroastrian god, ahura Mazda. i believe if Zoroaster could see his religion today he would be disappointed at how small and unpopular the religion has come.

Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha, over 2,500 years ago in India. Buddhism has about 470 million followers world wide today. making it one of the less followed major world religion. Buddhism is one of the most historically prominent religions through out east and southeast Asia. followers of Buddhism do not worship or acknowledge a god or deity. They focus on achieving enlightenment instead. Buddha is considered an extra ordinary man however he is not considered to be a god. Buddhism embraces the law of karma as well as reincarnation similar to the Hindus .the main goal of Buddhism is to become enlightened. to do so one must follow the four noble truths. i think if Buddha saw Buddhism today he would be pleased that it is still being practiced and taught similarly to the way it was when he created it. yes some things have changed through out time but i thin he would still appreciate that it is still being practiced in similar fashion.

Judaism

Judaism is the worlds oldest monotheistic religion as it has been in existence for over 4,000 years. followers of Judaism (Jews) believe in one all mighty god who has established a special agreement with them. they believe their god communicates with them through prophets and rewards good deeds and punishes bad ones. most jews believe that their messiah has not come yet, but is going to one day. today there are around 14 million Jews world wide. most live in the US, and isreal. according the Torah god first revealed himself to a man named Abraham who is credited as being the founder of Judaism. i believe that if Abraham was to see Judaism today he would be saddend at what it has become. while many of the religious aspects of it are still similar the past events are what i think he would be sadend by. for example the holocaust. i think Abraham would be upset that Jews were blamed for many society's problems and were tortured, banished, and killed for it.
