#1. Even though that we both live in the Bahamas, we still stick to our culture in terms of what we eat. For me (Ethan) I usually eat cereal or a bagel for breakfast, a sandwich, pasta, meat with a grain, or vegetables for lunch, and meat, a grain, and a vegetable for dinner. For me (Paola) I usually eat pan tostada for breakfast, and a typical Cuban dish such as arroz con pollo for dinner. Thus, are cultures and family traditions tie into our daily schedule and our nutrition.

#2. We think that because of sports we are influenced to stay fit, and keep a healthy schedule. For example, me (Paola) I play tennis, and me (Ethan) I play soccer and golf. In terms of nutrition, we are motivated to stay healthy after seeing the negative effects of unhealthy nutrition with other people like in America. Especially, if we don't have many options like Chipotle compared to the U.S.

#3 For Chipotle, what stood out for us was the high amount of calories that they had. However, the nutrition content is a lot higher than a burger from burger king. This is about 400 cal. from fat. But, are they good calories?

1) Burger King- https://www.bk.com/pdfs/nutrition.pdf

2) Chipotle- https://chipotle.com/nutrition-calculator

1. Your families culture impacts how you eat because you eat the traditional food from your country. This means that the influence from your family dictates if you eat the food from that specific culture.

2. People have different perspectives based on their influences. For example, if you live somewhere with a lot of fast food restaurants (the U.S. for example) then you will be influenced to eat more of that.

3. We were surprised that Chipotle had a lot of healthy choices. But, when we added chips to the menu we realized that they could drastically change your calorie count, sodium levels and fat content. We also noticed that Starbucks coffees and flavoured drinks have a much higher caloric content than we expected with all of the sweeteners that are used in drinks.

1. Our family's culture impacts how we eat. For example, Alex's family is partly Chinese , therefore he eats food such as Jioazi. Charlotte's family is Bahamian, which means they eat food like peas n' rice and Bahamian mac n' cheese.

2. We think that we have the perspective we do because growing up our parents would tell what foods we should eat and what foods are bad for us. They would tell us that carrots are good for our eyesight, meaning we grew up thinking they were healthy. Had our parents told us burgers were good for our eyesight, we would've grown up thinking those are healthy.

3. Dunkin' Donuts: We were surprised that the items with egg in had so many benefits. Charlotte thought they would be really artificial and unhealthy, so she was shocked when they ended up being on the healthy menu. We learnt that the egg and cheese wraps, english muffins, and lattes with skim milk are on the healthy menu.

Starbucks: We surprised that the breakfast sandwich only had 3 grams of sugar in it. Alex thought that Starbucks could never be this healthy! We learnt that the breakfast sandwich, strawberry greek yogurt parfet, and bistro box are on the healthy menu.

For example people in the Bahamas usually eat sea food, as that is part of our culture. Another example is Finnish people eat Reindeer as it is again apart of their culture.

2) Our parents are very interested in all of us eating healthy. We then learn this lifestyle from our parents, and P.E class and understand how importan nutrition is.

3)I am surprised that all of the different foods didn't declare how many calories that had in them on the actual drink or menu in Starbuck, Chipotle, and Panera. For example that there are 450 calories in a frappucino.

It is a tradition, and some people stick to their traditions and are afraid of change.
2) I think that since I am an athlete, I have a slightly healthier perspective on nutrition then a lot of people. This means that these meals are regularly un healthy and consist a lot of fat. Also, cultures like the latino culture, eat more than three meals a day, which means that they are ingesting significantly more calories, cholesterol, and fat.

2) Luke- My mom has had a large influence on me. My mom loves to run and eat healthy so I have just instinctively followed in her foot steps.
Theo- My mom and dad have a big influence on my nutrition, they always work out during the week. And my dad always tries to eat healthy to be in shape, and my mom always gives us healthy food.

3) Chipotle- With almost every food at chipotle with a drink is quite healthy. It really surprised us, because foods like sour cream, and chips are high in fat, and once you have gone through the calculator, it is apparent that there is no trans-fat at all and there are a lot of moderately healthy fats.
Duncan Donuts- This restaurant really surprised me. There is a large sliding scale of what is healthy and what is not.

How does your family's culture impact how you eat?

Our family's cultures impact how we eat because since we grew up in an environment where lots of meat/seafood is eaten and also where lots of fried stuff is eaten, we eat these things as well, just not in huge quantities. Also, since both of us have an English background, we eat and enjoy lots of English foods, such as sausages, fruit pastels, and crumpets.

2.) Why do you think you have the perspective you do about nutrition?

I think that since our families have taught us to like to eat healthy things and to practice this, we have gotten used to eating these things, so that we don't think to eat unhealthy foods all the time everyday. Yes occasionally we will eat it but not all the time.

3.) Provide 3 examples of learning for each restaurant.

a. For Dunkin Donuts, we thought that it was surprising that dunkin donuts's coffee wasn't actually bad and instead filled with calcium, however, there smoothies and frozen drinks are sugar filled with lots of added sugar and corn syrup.

c. For example, We might eat an English breakfast but a Bahamian styled lunch. But, we don't follow a main culture for food, we eat a wide variety of foods from different cultures. Such as American, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese etc.
2) In our families nutrition plays an important part.
