It all started a sunny day of August. I have been just created in an elastic wheel factory in Mexico. As soon as I realised where I was, I was transferred into a truck which headed to a port. Then, I was loaded into a large ship going to Portugal. The voyage lasted for 20 days. We continued by truck for three days until we reached France. It took us five hours to reach Italy, specifically Rome. The only thing left was to arrive to Athens by ship. Finally, we got to Athens.

Yet, one more thing was left. One more ship to Kithira, as I have learnt that somebody has bought a car in Kithira and I would be his elastic wheels. When I arrived at this island, over Crete, I was taken to a man who adjusted me to this car. I was happy because the car was brand new. As time went by, I was getting old and my owner threw me in to a junkyard. After a week, twelve children found me and brought me to the primary school of Potamos.

At the primary school of Potamos, the children cleaned me up and gave me a new purpose. I was no longer just an old elastic wheel — I had become part of their playground. They used me in games, rolled me down small hills, jumped over me, and even painted colorful patterns on my surface.

Each day, I brought laughter and joy. The children named me “Spinny,” and I felt proud to be useful again. I may not have been speeding down highways anymore, but I was part of something more meaningful — their childhood memories.

Seasons passed. Rain came, and the sun shone again. I stayed strong, even though I had cracks and scratches. One day, a teacher decided to create an art project using old materials. She saw me, now a little faded, and thought I could become part of a sculpture in the schoolyard.

So, I was painted once more, this time with bright blues and sunny yellows, and placed in the middle of a flower garden. The children still played around me, and visitors smiled when they saw how an old wheel could have such a beautiful second life.

And so, from the factories of Mexico to a peaceful school in Kithira, my journey continued — not as a forgotten tire, but as a symbol of creativity, joy, and the many lives one object can live.

The students enthusiastically created crafts using recyclable materials as part of the eTwinning project "Eco Sculpture." They reused detergent boxes, plastic bottles, paper rolls, cardboard, and caps to make unique items such as flower pots, animals, trees, and decorative objects. Through these activities, they learned the importance of recycling, reusing materials, and protecting the environment. Their creations were displayed in class and on the school blog, inspiring classmates and parents alike.
