Instead of thinking of normal and abnormal these terms aims to celebrate our differences. Neurotypical is the term used to describe somebody who has the cognitive ability and behavior that society expects.

It help the reader understand how somebody with ASC views the world. The story is centred around his relationships with his parents and linked to an incident.
