This is true of this article because it included quotes and personal experiences from people who work in and attend these schools.

Patricia Ames understood that her study would only be comprehensive if it included data from both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Through her research she was able to develop close relationships with the schools and students in rural Peru as she interviewed teachers, families, and students in the area. She also gained an understanding of student performance in the area as well as the hardships students face coming to school everyday.

The author of this article began with a simple reality. She was interested in this particular region after she noticed widespread inequality. Girls in this area were not attending schools at the same rate as their male counterpart. After noticing this she decided to take a closer look into what might be causing this disparity.

I found this article very interesting. I liked it because it worked on a local scale in a concrete way that could affect change for the students in this area. Thanks to this research, school officials in the area might be able to see ways they could encourage attendance and help ease student's difficulties. I enjoyed reading the article because I am particularly interested in South America. A goal of mine is to teach in Central or South America some day. I am also very interested in research that allows for interaction with students, teachers, and families. I think Quantitative research methods such as interviews are every bit as valuable as collecting statistics or poll results. They also give the researcher opportunities to build relationships with the locals and result in a fascinating article.
