Some of his revolutionary goals included:
-The promise of a better life for the poor
 -Development of a modern  economy
- And last of all, the restoring of China's  position as a major world power

In order to complete the first revolutionary goal for China,  Mao Zedong made collective farms where peasants were forced to pool their land, tools, and labor for a share of harvest. The government would control how much food was handed out to the peasants, and everyone got an equal amount. The leftover food went to the government. However some people were not receiving enough food to support their families causing hunger all throughout China.

Mao Zedong made China a more modern country by creating communes. Mao created communes by dividing China (he created the great leap forward). The communes controlled the land and peasants lives. It assigned jobs to each worker and provided all workers with clothing, housing, medical care, child care, schooling, and recreation. The government thought that they had full power over the citizens of China because they assumed that they could make the workers do whatever they wanted. However, this plan did not work out as expected. it ended up leading to disaster since peasants resisted the commune system and people did not work hard since they were guaranteed all the things needed to live a comfortable life. Food production also began to fall causing the death of many. Cultural revolution occurred when  Mao was blamed for the disaster that followed the great leap forward and a power struggle broke out among the top communist leaders.

Mao Zedong attempted to restore China's position as a major World Power by increasing production and trying to make China have the best economy. To do so, the government was in control. Everything was up to them.
