Ratliff says that closeness gives people a "safety jacket' feel when listening to a song containing closeness. I believe that is true, once understanding you are listening to a song using closeness, the way the voices melt together make you feel wrapped in the song. Like when listening to a song in surround sound, you can almost hear all the elements melting together and wrapping the listener up.

In the Beatles song, When I Get Home, the "woah"s are achieved by all four beatles singing together in perfect harmony with perfect timing. The way all their voices melt together give the listener a sort of wrapped up feel in the song. The voices blend so effortlessly that it sounds like one perfect harmony.

The song Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog is a great example to me of Closeness. Singers Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell take turns singing in the song but when it comes to the chorus, Vedder leads it while Cornell drags on the next line. the voices blend so easily that it sounds like one continuous voice. The way their voices come close together and almost overlap each other draw the listener in.
