Because of the pandemic, we are all obliged to adapt to the new normal. School, thereof is conducted through our new setup which is via online conventions and by such, students have to be efficient in using online platforms to be able to comply to school requirements.
As a college freshman, it is of course a challenge for me to adjust to the new environment and considering the new class setup, I'll be needing to exert extra effort to perform well at class withstanding the fact that I'm also new at CIIT. In spite of that, it was a wonderful opportunity to attend the discussion conducted by our dearest registrar regarding our school's online platforms.
Through the discussion, I was enlightened about CIIT Edusuite and Canvas' features. I honestly was confused with it at first but thereof realized how convenient it is to use. Looking forward to more discussions like this because through such, the burdens of students like me are eased and we get to feel that we are fully supported and guided through our academic journey.
Thank you, Miss Jen for this!

Reflection: IT

Referring to the first reflection, the pandemic has made schools to adapt to the normal be enforcing online classes and by it, students are required to not just be knowledgeable with various online platforms but also in using gadgets to access such.
Thankfully, through our discussion with CIIT's IT, we were taught about the school's offer for students. As students of CIIT, we are allowed to rent various online class equipment that we can use to comply to our requirements more efficiently and other than that, we are also given access to various software that we can use for editing, illustrating, and more.
But although we get to benefit from such, we are also given the responsibility to take care of whatever is entrusted to us. Regarding our access to software, we are expected to use such for school purposes alone and in terms of using equipment, it is our job to make sure that such won't get broken or lost.
The whole discussion was simple but it did reminded us of how important it is to be good stewards of the things we had because not everyone is given the privilege to even go to school.
Once again, thank you, Miss Jen for this opportunity!

Reflection: The President

It was indeed a wonderful privilege to attend the president's talk because aside from knowing additional facts about CIIT, we were also given essential ideas regarding our college journey in which we probably didn't thought of yet before this day.
In the discussion, the president stated important points to ponder which are all relative to what we should be preparing for during college and what we should anticipate after graduation. Such are the idea of "Beginning with the end in mind," the importance of "Soft skills," and the "4 points that we should be focusing on."
To 'begin with the in mind' one must anticipate the goal or the end point of the path he or she is taking. As a college student, I can say that this idea reeks equal importance as giving my best shot on whatever task is at hand. I get to think so seemingly because just as what was discussed, we would be able to improve if we continuously think of the goal we hope to attain. As we keep our eyes focused on what we aim for, we tend to make sure that every path we take would lead us to it though there is no assurance that such would not bring a burden too heavy for us to carry along the way. Even so, these things are all part of the journey for when we're tested, we're also stretched to do better and when we do better, we get more closer to our goal.
As mentioned by the president, no matter how skillful we are in terms of using editing softwares and other technical stuff, employers would not be fully convinced to hire us if we lack in soft skills. The said skills include our ability to communicate our ideas well, to think critically, to work in a team, and to figure out something not anticipated or being creative. Therefore, we do need to consider improving such skills for this would bring out the best that we had as we work in a certain environment no matter who surround us. This'll keep us firm as we face the reality.
Other than the aforementioned information, the president also stated 4 things that we should be focusing on as we push through our college journey and that is first, being too emotional. In the academe, we are expected to control our emotions and be rational at times simply because there will be times in which certain things couldn't be dealt with properly if we only rely on our emotions. Second, being too shy or modest. Group works and presentation would usually be at hand and often times, once the work is done, we get to deprive ourselves of the appreciation we deserve. Yes, we have to show humility at times but this doesn't mean that we can't own what we did. Being proud of our work is not bad at all simply because this'll motivate us to strive harder and aim to improve. But of course, being proud of ourselves has its limits. One cannot do so by stepping on others. Third, asking professors and school staff about our career. It's great to know that the people from our school would love to hear us ask about our perceived careers seemingly because this elicits our eagerness to really excel. This setup reeks a healthy environment for I believe that we could really learn if we seek and if there are those who are willing to share their learnings. Lastly, demand more from ourselves if we want the best in life. This idea is true. If we want to win big, we also have to act big. One cannot achieve something so great if the efforts done are not enough. We can dream big but also we have to act bigger!
These are my takeaways from the president's talk and I can say that I'm really encouraged and motivated! Looking forward to more conventions like this.

Reflection: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

In order to be highly effective people, we must acknowledge our need to get out of our comfort zones and stretch ourselves to be better.
According to Stephen Covey's book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," it was mentioned that a person has to first be proactive or to consider taking relevant actions toward certainties and anticipating the need to take responsibility in every action we make. Second, a highly effective person anticipates beginning the end in mind or simply focusing on the end goal. With this, he or she gets to assure that every action done would lead her or him closer to the goal. Third, putting first things first or in other terms, knowing our priorities. Yes, we become effective people if we learn to consider doing what's essential over what's not. This enables us to get the job done right on time without putting quality work and efficiency at risk. Fourth, to think win-win or simply being considerate of others. We often choose whatever will be beneficial for us but if we aim to be effective, we must thereof choose to consider what's going to be for the good of everybody. Fifth, seek first to understand than to be understood. This idea is relative to the win-win concept seemingly because this reeks the need to be considerate of others. Sixth, to synergize or being creative. There will be times in which we would rather choose what's already been done or what's the ordinary but this only leaves us idle. In order for us to be fully effective, we must also aim to try new things. Doing so would open up new opportunities for us that we probably never knew would bring out the best in us. Lastly, sharpening the saw or making room for growth and improvement. Nowadays, we would rather be stagnant and go with the flow but doing so would hold us back from achieving more. That's why as effective people, we must always aim to develop ourselves.
The aforementioned information are indeed essential and such has have to be considered specially as we face the reality after school because doing so would not just do good for us but would probably bring the best out in everyone surrounding us.

Reflection: The 21st Century Skills

There are about 12 skills stated under this and such are indeed great points that we could consider improving at for such would enable us to be efficient and functional in everything that we do or at wherever place where assigned or to whichever type of task we're held responsible of.
The 21st Century skills involve: Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication. Information literacy, Media literacy, Technology literacy, Flexibility, Leadership, Initiative, Productivity, and Social skills.
My takeaway for all 12 can be thoroughly expounded through relating it to the classroom setup. As a college student, I would probably encounter various situations in which I will be tasked to think of new ways to that'll lead to thorough development and relevant resolutions. This'll of course require me to think outside the box or think critically and be creative or anticipating something new that could take place. Also, as a student, I also need to improve my communication skills so that I would be capable of translating and sharing my ideas well with others. Regarding this, I of course have to be Information, Media, and Technologically literate simply because such things enables me to process, interpret, and translate knowledge through various means.
Other than what was mentioned above, I also have to consider being sociable in way that I can absorb information from others through proper discourse and at the same time having the initiative to step up for what I believe would be beneficial. These are possible if I tend to consider improving my social and leadership skills. Lastly, as a student who's in preparation for a future career, I have to take initiative on doing things that are necessary without having the need to be told to but along with that is the necessity of being flexible or being versatile. This reeks new opportunities and enables us to do more by being productive. But of course, in regards to everything that was stated, one has to have the eagerness and pure intention to really get out of his or her comfort zone to give room for improvements and this has been a thought I've kept on reminding myself for I believe that there is no dream too big for someone who really strives hard to reach it.

Reflection: Student Formation Officer

Today's discussion with the school's Formation Officer paved the way for us students to be reminded of the importance of discipline and of giving our best in our studies. Throughout the discussion, two quotations were stated and such are the following.

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment"

This quotation states the fact that no one can achieve a certain goal or attain success if he or she is not disciplined. This is so because in life, we are expected to be certain in our actions by considering what has to be done and refraining from doing things that wouldn't be beneficial. This elicits the idea of discipline or being certain of what we do and making sure that we remain on track. Still, this does not keep us from the reality of committing mistakes because it go along the way and that's how we get to learn more.
2. "We are not studying for school but for life.
This quotation is a reminder of what lies ahead of us. Truly, we study not because we aim to remain at school but to simply prepare ourselves for the things that we might be facing outside the four corners of the classroom. Other than that, the quotation states the fact that education is not only about academics seemingly because what we learn from school would not just enable us to perform well at our chosen careers but also make us able to live meaningful lives. Therefore, we should keep in mind that education is important for it teaches us things that we would carry through our journey in life and would also enable us to make a good impact to the lives of others.

Online class is indeed challenging for most of us students seemingly because everything we have to do and submit for school has have to be done online. Good thing is that CIIT has provided us means of doing so which specifically include Canvas.
I've actually used Canvas way back during my shs years and I can say that it's helpful in terms of submitting requirements with ease so as with checking on the deadlines for every task given. What's kind of challenging with using Canvas is it's features. If not given proper introduction in using it, one would probably go off track.
Regarding such concern, CIIT recently conducted a seminar discussing the use of Canvas and I do find it very helpful for it it helped me become more familiar with the Canvas' other features and take advantage of it to improve my school performance.

Reflection: Guidance

Whether one admits it or not, we would appreciate someone who would listen to us without any forms of judgement. We long for such because nowadays, our mental health is often put at stake. There will and will always be tough times. Such are inevitable but such can still be overcomed.
Often times, other than taking a break, we recharge ourselves by venting out our emotions and expressing our thoughts but getting to do so would require someone who is willing to listen to us. That person could be anyone but not everyone. Apparently, looking for someone as such is what most of us struggle with.
Because of our recent talk with the school guidance counselor, our class was reminded that each of us are important and what we say and feel matters. It really just takes at least someone who would see through our imperfections and would offer both ears to listen. Our guidance counselor spoke up about this and it is indeed comforting to know that a person like him whom we barely knew is willing to hear us out. But of course, other than having someone who would understand us, we too have to consider knowing ourselves first and with that, establishing self love and confidence.
During the talk with our guidance counselor, two quotations were stated and below would be my takes for each.

“True power lies in understanding yourself, accepting yourself, and having confidence in yourself."

        - We all have different capabilities and such can bring us through various opportunities but doing so would be hard if we don't even believe that we could actually do it. Many people stumbles at this part, lack of believing in oneself. This is so because we could do something by believing we could. Moreover, even the toughest things can be done if one believes it can really be done.
2. "#iMatter"
- This is more of a thought we have to always keep in mind. "I matter" simply states that I am important and my life has a meaning. Getting to think of that would enable me to push through with life simply because this also states that where I am at right now, what I'm doing at present, and who I am makes a significance to this world and that I am valuable and worthy of love and support.

Truly, health is wealth and by that, it is necessary for us to be certain in taking care of ourselves. Due to being bombarded with lots of things, we tend to forget to look after ourselves and often times we make reasons for our incapability to take care of our bodies. But whichever reason it is, we still have to check on our health statuses.
During our talk with the school nurse, we are once again reminded of the simplest things we should do but often times neglect in terms of taking care of our bodies. Although I've heard about such a bunch of times already, being reminded seems fresh as new and I appreciate the school for initiating activities such as this one so that us students would be more considerate of watching out for ourselves.
The school stated programs and activities that they offer such as online consultations which are means we could consider for our health and I can say that such are beneficial. I'm very much eager now to really look after myself simply because not being able to do so would affect me badly and with that, I would probably be less functional.

Considering our era, technology has been a part of our lives wherein in almost everything that we do, technology provides the means for us to do so. With that, the things that we usually do before like reading traditional books do aren't done as much as the things done through modern technology.
During our talk regarding CIIT's library, we were offered access to the school's books in which although some would prefer accessing such online, the school still offered ways that we could consider to get a read on traditional books. I find this exciting although I'm not very much into reading. Having to hear about the availability of the books that I thought were rarely available excites me simply because I get to see that I could get a read on such even at the comforts of my home. Also, other than that, the featured books in the CIIT library's site interests me so much thus I opt to hopefully read at least one from the list. Reading as a hobby is probably a new thing for me but this would something I would go for now thanks to CIIT's library!
