" the resurrectionist " is a short film directed by tim stevens. this director represents wickedness in the form of racial injustices roughly when slavery was at its prime or right after it was abolished . this wickedness in the film is represented by a loving couple one whom is a white male and the other whom is a black women , that must conceal their love from society if they wish to be together . if they are seen as lovers publicly their will be great consequence for both. for at this point in time interracial relationships was not an acceptable concept and was greatly frowned upon to the point of awful ramifications . the wickedness in the film is represented by white supremacist males that discover this interracial couple and begin to beat and torture each of them until they ultimately kill the black women . while only beating the white man while telling him to " learn from his sins " as he asks them to take his life instead of his lovers .

is a story written by flannery o'connor .this story tells a tale of a normal family heading to georgia on vacation , when they suddenly get into an accident and are seeking for help in the middle of the road where nothing surrounds them but trees . when they soon are discovered by suspicious looking men with guns . when the grandmother soon discovers one of the men is a prisoner who had escaped prison "the misfit " it doesn't go well for no one . this tales weakness is portrayed in two very different ways , the grandmother and the misfit . the grndmother wickednenn is represented by her overlooked rasicttness , greediness and her mentality of superiority . for example , when she and her family are on the road heading to georgia she points out a black boy and calls him a "pickaninny" and proceeds to tell her grandchildren how "niggers" aren't as fortunate as they are and don't have nice things like they do . later on she begins to tell a story of how a man who used to give her watermelons every saturday but one time was stolen by a "nigger boy " who had thought it was left out for him because of the initials that were on it ( E.A.T ). she also explains how she regrets not marrying this gentlemen ( man who gifted her watermelons ) because of how he had later on became a very wealthy man caused by investing in the coca cola company when it has first came out . the misfits wickness is represented by his ability to have no remorse or feeling of guilt and also his reasoning for being in prison .when the grandmother and him begin to talk after she discovers he is the runaway misfit she asks him what was his reasoning for being in prison . the misfit tells her that in the end it doesn't even matter because no matter what you do you will have painful consequences or "punishment " but that he was their for killing his father although he does not believe he has done it he adds maliciousness to his character . besides this the biggest factor in the misfits wickness is the fact that once the grandmother calls him one of her own "children" he shoots her three times threw the chest . and asks his collages to put her with the rest of the bodies .after his cologne tells him his excitement after murdering them he doesn't seem to be fazed nor amused .

this story written by flannery o'connor is a story where a old woman who lives with her daughter who cannot speak nor hear . who then encounter a strange man who is does not have a forearm . this man ( mr shiftlet ) approaches them with the hopes of finding a home to sleep in . and is then offered a car to sleep in and warm food in exchange for manual labor . the old woman begins to really like mr shiftlet for her daughter lucynell. but when he asks the old women if she can take her for special date the day they get married , asking for money and the car things don't end well for lucynell, for she was left at the diner when mr shiftlet runs away from bride. the wickedness in this story is portrayed in two different ways . one way wickness represented is when the old women basically sells lucynell to mr shiftlet for the price of a car , a paint job and 17.50 dollars ,"You can go to the courthouse and see for yourself And yonder under that shed is a fine automobile." She laid the bait carefully.

"You can have it painted by Saturday. I'll pay for the paint." , "Seventeen‑fifty, the old woman said. That's all I got". this is wicked because lucynell does not get a say if she even wants to marry mr.shiftlet and a girl like her requires special needs and care and a husband that loves her and is willing to do these things for her and provide . the old lady knows this and she still convinces lucynells future husband to marry her in exchange for a car and money basically selling her to mr .shiftlet . the way mr.shiftlet wickedness is represented is when he marries lucynell and takers her to a diner for them to eat after she falls asleep he tells the waiter that she is indeed a hitchhiker and continues to abandon her leaving her their with no money or way to get home ."Hitch‑hiker," Mr. Shiftlet explained. "I can't wait. I got to make Tuscaloosa."

The boy bent over again and very carefully touched his finger to a strand of the golden hair and Mr. Shiftlet left. " this is wicked because it is just not fair to lucynell ,to be abandoned by her own husband after he had run away with the car and money . she has no way to get home no way of telling anybody where she lived or how to get their . ultimately impossible for her to get home . we can only imagine how it went for poor lucynell .

this story by odd soul pictures is a story about two brothers charlie and his older brother neil . when the two brothers go to the woods to visit their secret bunker.they encounter this peculiar woman who seems frighten and scared , she asks them for help to hide and when they do only moments later her abusive husband comes looking for her . when they tell him they haven't seen anybody come by he proceeds to threaten and harass them scaring them into telling the truth . after she was founded by her husband he forces her to go back with him . after the boys go home frighten the next morning they see on the newspapers that that women they had seen the day before was found dead .in shock they begin to remensise and guilt(especially charlie ) for if their action were different she might still be alive . their are fore major elements in this film that makes then fall under the southern gothic tradition . one of them being the southern setting and feeling of place . by looking at this film we can tell that the boys are living in and older area in the south. with deep accents and traditional disciplinary actions like washing their kids with a bar of soap. we also understand the deep sense of place because of how frequently they wonder off going to lakes with friends and exploring the woods . another element that adds to the southern gothic tradition is the strange or grotesque . when the two brothers encounter this odd looking woman they realize very quickly that the situation they are in is not normal . the frightened look on her face , her rapid breathing , the raggedy dirty gown she is wearing ,her bare feet and her also asking to be hid from someone , it is clear something is not okay . along with strange and grotesque another element that quickly follows ;violence and death . after she is hid and her husband appears shortly after . when he asks themis they'd seen his wife and they stand their ground and say they hadn't seen anybody , he knows they are lying and forces them to tell the truth by scaring them ; slapping them and threatening them with a knife he soon takes his wife back . and the next morning she is found dead the two boys are certain they know who had killed her . the third element of southern gothic tradition is religion , before the boys enter the woods they briefly mention the church charlie doesn't go and is curious of what happens and what they pray about and if god speaks back to them neil explains that's not how it works . but when charlie is threatened in the woods with a knife to his face out of fear he begins to pray it is clear he hasn't prayed like this before or maybe ever . the third and final element that contributes to the southern gothic tradition is generational decay . the next morning when they read the newspaper and see the woman has been murdered as the children realize what had happened in the background you can hear the grandmother mention how it used to be safer when she was younger you could leave the front door open and nothing would happen but not now ; it used to never be this dangerous back in her days . and how they must have safety precautions now to ensure their safety .

it is hard to disagree with any of these authors and writers . each one add enough elements to hint each characters individual wickedness . my one question would be referring to flannery o'connor , in both stories ; the misfit and the live you save may be your own i believe he purposely doesn't give us enough background information on our most wicked characters . for example in the life you save may be your own he fails to give us any reasoning for leaving lucynell we are only left to assume what it could have been instead of what actually caused him to abandon lucynell . same goes for the misfit we never truly know if he actually killed his father because he gives us information that goes against that statement . my question is why would he leave us in wonder ? is it to question the level of actual wickedness within both characters ? . my guess would be that it is to add suspensefulness , wonderness , and suspitioness to each wicked character . however only he truly knows ...
