Say a 150 pound person is on a roller coaster and they are about to go down the drop of the coaster. They feel 150 pounds of external force from the seat. But once they go down the drop the seat go from under them so there is no external force on their body making them feel weightless.

Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. This means that the molecules are always moving. Kinetic energy will never have more energy than potential energy because the total amount of kinetic energy is how much potential energy is there. The amount. The mass + speed creates work, and movement equals energy witch helps create kinetic energy. Kinetic energy = 1/2 x mass x velocity^2, so KE or kinetic energy = 1/2mv^2. The least amount of KE is when it goes uphill or is stopped.

Kinetic energy and potential energy happens on roller coasters. The potential energy on a roller coaster is when your going up about to go down a steep drop. The potential energy part is going up when all forces stack up until you finally reach the top. When your going down is where the kinetic energy takes place. Kinetic energy happens when your going down because the work creates the energy and then movement happens causing you to go down the drop.

The first hill is the biggest factor, the hill of the coaster has all of the PE. This hill is the highest point of the entire ride so it gains a ton of potential energy. Once it reaches the top all of that PE that has been gaining is released into kinetic energy that helps the coaster until the end. So since the ride gains so much energy and speed, it's unnecessary to have an engine for the entire ride.
