I’ll want to go to the mall and I’ll pick out some high wasted boyfriend jeans and my mom will say, “oh those were so in in the 80’s, I’m glad they’re coming back.” Then after that you feel a bit less happy about your purchase because it’s not original. Trends are recycled all the time. The way fashion designers get a lot of inspiration is from the past, they just take the part of the trend that didn’t work out and tweak it with something new. Recently the 90’s have been making a comeback. I myself wear chockers and platform shoes on the occasion, and would like to consider myself a trendy person. While you don’t see as many bold colored wiry ones, you do see quite a bit of bold thick chockers that are black or other dark colors. This can be called stimulus diffusion I think , the idea may have been carried over but not the whole part of it. Designers took the leek modern approach on a 90’s jewelry piece and fooled a bunch of pre-teens into thinking they’re edgy. Moving on to the reason why some outfits or pieces of clothing are timeless is because most of the normal population can pull it off. For example skinny jeans will be in for the long run because they flatter your shape and accentuate the right parts of the body that women would want to show off. My research gave me the example of the victorious secret models wearing the thigh high boots in the victorious secret fashion show last year. Sure, thigh high boots may look good on a skinny blonde women that’s 6ft tall and is beautiful for a living, but what about the average women who is about 5’2-5’4 in height?
