Nature

This movie shows how humans use nature for their own use. It shows that things will eventually run out and that we need to realize that. It points out in a much smaller way that we don't appreciate nature for what it really is, beautiful and serene. It shows that we don't work for what we take from nature, we just take it.
This quote ties into the movie because it shows that we take for granted what should be valued as heaven. We don't think think through that what we are taking isn't fair and we should appreciate the things we get from nature.

Self-Reliance

Beyonce's song "Single Ladies" is a perfect example of self-reliance. This song immediately became a hit, making everyone that listened feel empowered and ready to take on anything. An example of this would be when she so easily admitted that she "couldn't care less what you think." She made newly single woman feel independent with just a few lyrics.
Although many times throughout the song she comments about her hard times getting over her breakup, she does get over it. She not only gets over it, but she gets over it by herself with no one else's help. Just like Ralph Waldo Emerson says, "Nothing can being you peace but yourself."

The Hunger Games can be used as an example of nonconformity. Although the social norm for the districts is to go along with what the capital says, Katniss doesn't believe in that. She goes against what is normal to save herself and her family. The entire series shows examples of not conforming to a society that they are raised in.
Katniss is always herself, even from the very beginning. She goes against the capital and what they say is right. She is always going against the rules and is always being herself, even when everyone else is telling her not to be that way.

She lost her arm and continues to overcome obstacles to do what she loves. She doesn't care what she has to do just so she can hit the water again.
Bethany obviously shows intuition over reason. She continues to surf even after everything that happened. She does what everyones expected her to never do again. She thought that she could do it, so she did.
