My Youth in Mission location this year is Kupang. What is youth in mission you may ask? youth in mission is a must do ministry work across Indonesia that the students of UPH College do once a year, normally around September. There are two types of Youth in Mission that is the mission trip and the personal mission, the ministry work of mission trip is done outside of Jabodetabek, Jabodetabak is located around our school area, and personal mission is done inside jabodetabek. The UPH College carries out Youth in Mission once every year to help our brothers and sisters that need help more than us. You may ask how will the mission trip be carried out, well every mission trip group will carry out ministry in 6-7 places trough out 4-6 days. Every group will consist of one teacher and about 25-30 students.

a tiring and heart warming journey

Firstly as soon as we stepped our feet on Kupang our body was tired our head was aching for the whole entire day but we had no time to rest, we went to a few shops to get items to give to the church, adoption center and also the nursing home until the late afternoon after we bought the items to give we went to the church to practice our events tomorrow. The day of our first ministry place arrived, it was the GMIT Bethlehem Church, we did our best and we felt happy and fulfilled. we felt so grateful that we got to meet the people of this church, that were very welcoming, even tho we are just strangers to them.

Secondly the time we went to the adoption center my heart broke to pieces because despite lacking a lot, they were still grateful with what they had and we just felt like hugging them and crying along with them. Our next ministry place is the nursing home, in there we met so many kind old people that tell us stories, it breaks my heart that some people left them there in their last moments, when we are there we wants to give them the best memories of us that they can remember.

Lastly, we went to a few other schools and we saw how grateful the kids there are, they welcomed us with open arms, and they want to make memories with us, they are happy that we played with them even though we are just strangers that they don’t even know, we are so grateful meeting them.

Reflection

At the end I got so many memories from my first mission trip, I felt so grateful and blessed that I could do my first school ministry trip in Kupang, I hope that the people that we meet on our ministry would feel joy because of our presence even though we couldn’t do our maximum.
