Connection: The first graph shows that the union membership in the US peaked in 1954 (?) and has declined since then. The second graph compares union membership across different countries in 2015 showing that the US has one of the lowest rates. Together the graphs show how union influence in the US has become weak over time, especially compared to other countries where unions are still strong.

Question: what contributed to the decline in U.S. union membership after its peak?

Both US and other countries have free public school that is funded by the government. Why cant the US have low tuition rates for colleges and private schools like Iceland?

In the U.S there is no law stating workers get paid time off but some states have their own form of pto for workers. In France all French workers get a minimum of 25 days of paid time off.

My question is if more than one third of states in the u.s have accrued some form of pto why is there no law for the whole country.

The connection I made from both group work is that the U.S and other countries have some form of grants, loans by the government for helping pay for college.

One question I have is why is so hard for the U.S to grant lower founded tuitions rates for college like Iceland?

A connection I made is that all of these countries that have big labor unions have a lot more public services. For example, the U.S., which is lower down in terms of labor union membership, doesn't have paid time off or any childcare, while Places like France has 26 paid time off days and got places liek Sweden and Iceland that has childcare acts/laws.

What does the U.S. have to do to get more people to be a part of unions?

One that caught my eye was how Italy operates differently their healthcare system treating it like a birth given right that everyone should be provided regardless of their ability to pay, compare this to the american healthcare system, which in a way they care about your status and if you have insurance or sometimes they wont treat you as good if you dont have a good cover or they might charge you and leave you on debt.

Question : Why cant the American healthcare system have better coverage like Italy ?

Looking through group 1, i found that in that the united states there is no childcare. Comparing that to group 2, Sweden does have childcare no more the income level.

A question i have on that would be why doesn't the united states have childcare/ what is the problem with the the childcare in the united states ?

Both the US and other countries provide some sort of loans or have some sort of financial assistance in mind, like for college. Helping other people in more trouble.

My question is what minor details have made the US operate overall differently than other countries? Like how we have to pay more for college and healthcare?

In the U.S most of the benefits and welfare for citizens are provided through government assistance to help improve their living conditions like section 8 and food stamps. while benefits in other countries are better incorporated within society due to higher levels of unionization. For example many countries outside of the U.S believe in free healthcare as it is seen as a necessity while in the U.S you can only get partial coverage if you have health insurance.

Question: why doesn't the U.S believe in free healthcare and how can stronger unions affect more affordable healthcare or even free healthcare?
