If you don’t know how to approach the Rainbow Serpent, he will drown anyone who approach’s him so quickly, so it is said that you need to approve him properly. Aboriginal people pay respect by singing from a distant while approaching the waterhole. When singing they are letting him know they are coming to the waterhole, letting the Rainbow Serpent know their intentions and to let him know their purpose is a good one, that they know his powers, and they don’t bring no harm to him. The Rainbow Serpent can hear the songs they sing to him and know that hey have knowledge of the place and the language of that place, so that the people are recognised as being from that place. As a protector of water, the Rainbow Serpent has the power over life and death in the dessert he controls water.

Justification
The book teaches the children how the Rainbow Serpent grows grass and tress and water flow through the desert it gives you a clear understanding as to why the Aboriginal people care so much about their country and land it teaches the children the great strengths they went through to create their land for their families.

Theme
The theme of this book is it identifies is the Country and also reciprocity.

Country being that it talks about the land, the trees the grass the water.

Reciprocity it has been said that it’s or was believed to give women the same power of creation that the serpent had, also forms respect for each other and has different Totem names. McKnight's monograph is the first work that covers everything: social structure (including kinship), myth, ritual, dancing, property structure, and biological classification.

Link AITSL
I would link the video to the AITSL 1.4 Strategies for teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. 3.4 Select and use resources, 2.4 Understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

EYLF:
Learning Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

5.5 Children use information and communication technologies to access information, investigate ideas and represent their thinking.

Age Appropriate 6-8 years old

Talking Narrative: Guugu Yimidhirr game is Harold Ludwick.

Critical reflection

The Aboriginal language game, Children match the words in Guru Yimidhirr language with words recorded. This game is suited for children at school age.

It states on website that when you say “ Kangaroo” you are actually speaking Guru Yimidhirr the language of the people from Far North Queensland. It states that the list of words is the first European recording Indigenous Australian language.

Justification

Player’s have to match Guru Yimidhirr words with the picture it associates with. Once you match the correct words to the illustration, Which are body parts, objects and animals, all these different facts about the illustration appear. There are instruction that give players insight into the Challenges the Guru Yimidhirr. This is a great game for children to learn about the words like, Gangurru (eastern grey Kangaroo), Waandaar (White cockatoo), Ngamu-Ngaajarr (Dingo), There is also body parts Ngaabaay (Head), Bama (Aboriginal person), Yimbi (lip). Once you match the word with illustration you also see at the bottom of the page there are sign languages on how to say the words with her hand gestures. There are two different ways of learning through word matching to illustration and sign language too.

Theme:

Theme I have chosen is Country as the game relates to land the animals, and also the objects. The objects are a picture of the country and you need to find the right wording to go with it, another one is an illustration of Fire you need to find the right word that goes with it. Other Illustration are the body parts. This game is great for children to learn sign language and to be bale to name the picture by looking at it. "Aboriginal sign language systems, they're expressive, they're visual, they're culturally bound, they're old. Their value is priceless … the signs that I use today are the same signs that have been used for 65,000 years,” said by Jody Barney.

I would also say that it is a part of the Reciprocity theme to as its also known that Aboriginal sign language is a really close knit group. "It's important to remember that Aboriginal sign language systems don't follow Auslan grammar or English grammar. They follow the Aboriginal spoken language groups and are culturally bound," Ms Barney signed.

It's important to remember that Aboriginal sign language systems don't follow Auslan grammar or English grammar. The Wurundjeri people believe an ancestral Wedge-tailed Eagle called ‘Bunjil’ created the land. It said that Bunjil has created the earth that we all live in today. Bunjil also created his brother “Mindi” the snake, who became the law of the land and they both created animals together.

Justification

This App is really good children get to choose their own adventure! It’s about Bunjil the Aboriginal deity who created the world that we live in and all other living beings. In the app Bunjil needs assistance to help his friends. Where the player/reader are invited to go for a “ walk on Country” and get to choose their own location and time the best part is they get to choose their own Totem to help them on their quest. This game supports children and players about different information that related to Aboriginal culture but also Australian animals. Developed by the Victorian Department of Education and training (DET).

Theme:

Theme I have chosen is Country as the game relates to land the animals, and the land to help our animals friends with the help of a Totem you get chose "a totem which is neither a whole animal or plant, nor a part of one particular species of animal or plant, but is a particular part of all (or of a number of species of) animals or plants. The speaks about love and re connecting and how is travelled across the sea into the hearts of First Nations Communities. The books talk about Children getting taken from their homes with big black government cars. Talk about how the Aboriginal people were treated and how they felt.

Justification
This book is about how the white people took the Aboriginal children from their parents and took them to give them up for fostering because they thought that the children would be better off with them which was far from the truth. They children felt lonely because they were getting taught to act like a white person as the book states. The children finally found their way home to their families and loved ones. Talks about the forced separation of Indigenous children from their family.

The book talks about why the children were taken away which they explained the lives of First Nations people would be improved if they became part of white society.

Theme:
The theme I have chosen is Identity, This book talks about the Identity of the Aboriginal people and how they were taken away and placed in Foster, how they got taught to act like the white people. Theme is based on the Stolen Generations.

Link AITSL
1.2 Understand how students learn

1.4 Strategies for teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

EYLF

Learning Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity

1.3 Children develop knowledgeable and confident self identities.

Learning Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

5.2 Children engage with a range of texts and gain meaning from these texts.

5.5 Children use information and communication technologies to access information, investigate ideas and represent their thinking.
