I see that wherever the sun hits the colors pop more than where the shadow is, where it is darker colors. It seems like a nice day but in the dark are it does not. I like this painting, it seems very mixed with emotion.

If you zoom in you can see the dot like style used. There is not a lot of depth in the figures (they look flat). Their shadows are the only part that gives them slight depth. The image as a whole has depth created by staggered figures that get smaller the further they are. Everyone looks like they are enjoying a sunny day, relaxing. The real painting is in the Chicago Museum of Art. It is a beautiful museum! I love this painting. This painting has almost grainy dots and it gives me the feeling that people are taking time to relax. Maybe it's a holiday, spring break, or even summer vacation. My interpretation is that the painter is trying send the message that people need to relax. My impression has not changed. There is very few harsh lines and not a lot of detail in the faces. There are two focal points. The woman in red who is centered in the image and the woman in black who is closest in space.
