I would say "Thank you!" and give them a hug because they put a lot of effort into getting me a gift. Then I would figure out a way to use it or regift it.

I would try to not look overexcited and fake but put the shovel with the rest of the shovels I have in the shed. I would be extolling the virtues of a #2 excavation device and how I could use it to do lots of projects and how it will help me with my completion of something that matters to me.
