the Mid Autumn Festival, starts on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar near the autumn equinox - mid September to early October. Most groups will celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival on a weekend. Vietnamese new year, the national holiday of Tet lasts for three days. However, it is closer to a week or ten days, as many celebrations occur before this date in the south of Vietnam and after this date in the north of Vietnam.
