The International Foundation Programme at IIUM Academy is primarily meant for candidates with international qualifications such as IGCSE, GCSE or equivalent national certificates of secondary education of any country in the world.

Normally there are two intakes each year: June and October. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the June 2020 intake has been pushed to August and this is applicable to 2021 too. The exact timing depends on the Ministry's decision and its official circular on the matter.

The following are the programmes on offer:
1. Foundation in Allied Health Sciences (August Intake only)
2. Foundation in Architecture and Environmental Design (August Intake only)
3. Foundation in Arabic Language
4. Foundation in Biological Science (August Intake only)
5. Foundation in Economics and Management Sciences
6. Foundation in Engineering and Computer Science
7. Foundation in English Language
8. Foundation in Human Sciences
9. Foundation in English for International Communication
10. Foundation in Islamic Revealed Knowledge
11. Foundation in Nursing (August Intake only)
12. Foundation in Law
13. Foundation in Physical Science

Students who successfully complete the foundation studies via IIUM Academy will be channeled to the corresponding bachelor programmes in IIUM, which cover, among others, the following disciplines:
1. Accounting
2. Economics
3. Islamic Finance
4. Business Administration
5. Law
6. English Language and Literature
7. Arabic Language and Literature
8. Communication
9. History
10. Political Science
11. Sociology
12. Psychology
13. Fiqh
14. Qur'an and Sunnah Studies
15. Usuluddin and Comparative Religion
16. Engineering
17. Information Technology
18. Computer Science
19. Mathematics
20. Architecture
21. Urban and Regional Planning
22. Landscape Architecture
23. Quantity Surveying
24. Arts and Design
25. Biomedical Science
26. Biotechnology
27. Plant Science
30. Chemistry
31. Nursing

Those with SPM results may also apply for August 2021 intake but no decisions on acceptance will be made before the UPUONLINE results are released by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Please note that seats are competitive and those at the lower spectrum of entry requirements are not likely to get a place when there are candidates with better grades ahead of them.

Notes:
1. Repeat students will be required to pay additional fee for the repeated subjects and additional fee for hostel.
2. Students who need to take additional English courses to reach the required level of proficiency for entry into IIUM's undergraduate programmes will be required to pay additional fees on top of the total fee of the foundation programme.
3. Admitted students are also required to take Arabic test during the registration week. If their score in the test is below the required standard, they will be required to take Arabic classes and additional fee is imposed for that.
