Literature can be like a time machine because books can take you back to 1978 or what ever year.
When you read, you go in a world of your own. But when you read like history books then travel back to the specific time period. This is how books make you feel sad, happy, or mad. When you are in that world you time you are experiencing different activities or emotions.
