The narrator of the Serial Podcasts reenacts the exact steps Adnan would have taken if Adnan really did kill Hae. She concludes that the amount of time it took for her to drive places, strangle and kill someone, and return back to school in time for track practice is impossible.

Jay states that Adnan tells him about his plan to murder Hae days before it happens, but he later states that he found out of the murder the day that it happened. He also stated in the beginning that he didn't help Adnan bury the body but he states later that he did. Jay said that he changed his clothes and got rid of almost everything to make sure no one would find out, but why would he take such careful precautions if he wasn't the one committing the crime and if he planned on telling the cops later anyway?

Hae Lee was reported missing before her body was later found in Leaken Park in Baltimore City. Jay, Adnan's supposed best friend, tells the interviewers his story of Hae's death many times, but with details added and revised every time. It seems as if Jay knows the story TOO well. His recollections of details on locations, calls, timing, events, and individuals is almost unbelievably clear for an event that happened a long time before his interviews.
