Hello, My name is Kyrie, and I am 20 years old. I currently hold both a cosmetology license and advanced esthetics license. I came to Nevada State with the goal of getting into the Nursing program, hoping to expand my scope of practice or becoming a surgical nurse. My current hobbies are playing video games when I have free time, but since I currently work two jobs and do beauty pageants as well, free time is hard to come by. Last semester I feel that I exceeded my own personal expectations I set when it came to English 101 and I am excited to progress and continue this journey.

8. Summarizing the "trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and antiracist classroom" policy

Many students may have experienced trauma or oppression in their lives. While there is no requirement to share these experiences, students are welcome to share them whether it is either verbally or in writing, if they feel comfortable of course. This semester's readings will often have themes related to trauma or oppression. If at any point these are triggering, students are encouraged to prioritize themselves and practice self-care.

An important part of being a strong writer and scholar is the ability to listen to and appreciate feedback from differing perspectives. Students are discouraged from sharing or submitting work they are not ready to receive constructive criticism on or have publicly discussed in class. Additionally, students should avoid writing on topics they feel so strongly about that they cannot be open minded to others. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, classist, ableist, culturally insensitive, or otherwise disrespectful comments will not be tolerated in class. If such behavior occurs, it will lead to a discussion with Professor Emily, either in person or via Zoom. Professor Emily realized that college can be stressful and that Murphy's law does exist.

She does genuinely care about her students and is willing to work with them, as long as they maintain open communication. While she is not responsible for our emotions, her responsibility lies in supporting our success in her class at NSU. If a student submits work that expresses disrespectful emotions toward the course content, the classroom learning environment, teaching practices, or assignment feedback, it will result in a zero. Similarly, if a student shows disrespect toward Professor Emily or another student during personal conferences or through submitted work, they will have the opportunity to reschedule the meeting or revise and resubmit their work after taking time to reflect. Professor Emily also reserves the right to report students to campus leadership if necessary.
