1.I like that we learned about the social contagion theory, and how the people we surround ourselves with (willingly or otherwise) can have a huge impact on our well being and life choices. This Is something that was always intriguing to me, and it will be interesting to learn more about the extent that others can impact our lives just by being in them.

2. We can apply all of the current best practices when working with clients or developing plans, which is wonderful because we know that what we are teaching people is the best way to reach their goals that current science knows.

3. I want to learn more about program development and maintenance, so that i could be more confident in my ability to develop and utilize plans to help people reach their goals.

1. What was something new or thought about in a different way that you learned this week and why?
I like the idea of emerging practices. we always talk about best practice and whats been proven, but we often forget to keep an open mind to the new things we are learning, and how they can actually be just as beneficial as best practice, but they aren't as well vetted.

2.Based on best practices, how can you apply what you know in you career choice as a Health Promotion Manager?
Best practices are everywhere. They are the daily recommendations, the most well known workout plans, basically everything you need to know you can find out online. This makes our jobs a little bit harder, because what good are HPW professionals if we just tell people what they can find out on the internet? The difference is that we work on behavior change, and we are the professionals that can help these people to make that change. Knowing information is one thing, but having someone to help modify their behavior can make all the difference.

3.What do you want to learn more about, and why?
I want to learn more about how to turn emerging practices into best practices, because the process seems slow and expensive. I realize they need lots of evidence for that, but if we could determine how to verify new practices sooner, then we could help a lot more people become healthier.

1. What made you curious this week?
The lack of willpower that people think they have is surprising. I think its surprising that one of the most influencing factors on whether or not someone makes a change is simply if they think they can or not. Its not always time, or money, or location, but sometimes just whether or not they think they can.

2. What about your thinking, learning, or work this week brought you the most satisfaction? Why?
Same as the first question. It's so much of whether or not you think you can, that if people make a small change in mindset it can make all the difference in their actions when it comes to being healthy.

3. How did you help the class learn this week? If you feel you didn't add to class or feel the need to contribute more consider what can you do next week to help other learners more?
I understand that i am doing these reflections late, but still i believe that i do help the class learn by asking interesting questions. If i ever don't understand something, i make sure that i ask about it in a way that i think could help others understand it better as well.

I believe that our group (Me, Brittany, and Kyle) are on track and focused with our genius hour project. We don't exactly know what we are going to do to fix the problem of mental illness prevalence in adolescents, but understanding the specific issues we are trying to fix was one of the harder parts to focus in on, so i believe we are doing well. We want to be influencers of change because we understand the issues that many adolescents face, and they are very preventable. If we can just find a way to help them realize they have everything they need within themselves to be fulfilled and happy, then we could change the future for an entire generation of people.
