Children Under the Age of 12 Shouldn't have Cell-phones!!

I believe that the children of our generation are on their cellphones too much. Yes I do think 12 and up should have technology but, a 7 year old? No way! 12+ should have cell-phones so they can contact family and have the power to contact their friends. My sister became a friend with an exchange student from Germany last year. The girl,(Antonia) went back to Germany and they still are able to have contact. Then again my sister is 17. I do not have a cell-phone and I'm 11.
So maybe I think this because I've grown up without a cell-phone, but I do think many kids have a cell phone even though they're 6,7or 8. Let's say a 5 year old is on her smart phone and on Instagram. Suddenly 'Princess Ariel' (from Disney's Little Mermaid) messages her to come and meet her at the park. The next day the little girl's mom comes in her room to wake her up but the bed is empty. Yes in school we do have the safe technology talk but, this girl really thought it was Ariel. This is a major safety issue!! Now let's say a 13 year old is on her smartphone scrolling through Tumblr when 'Taylor Swift' messages her to meet her at TacoBell. The next day the 13 year old's mom comes to wake her up and there she is. The 13 year old was smarter than the 5 year old. Make sense? Of course it does there's an EIGHT YEAR difference! But of course you're probably thinking 'Parents could put a tracker on the kids phone and BAM! No harm done.' I suppose that could work but, there are a few faults a.) Someone could steal the parents phone and see where their child is. or b.) If a child is kidnapped, the person who is kidnapping them isn't going to think 'Oh the kid I'm kidnapping may want to play Candy Crush!' No they're probably thinking 'If the kid has their phone they could call their parents! No not gonna grab it for 'em.' In the Black Hole of Technology by: Leena Khan, she states that she wouldn't go outside on nice days. If a kid doesn't have a phone they'll most likely want to go outside and when they are older and have a phone they'll probably choose going outside then staying in. Hopefully the next nice day you'll go outside instead of being on your phone!

Many people do rely on technology too much. In Feathered Friends, they realize that they relied on technology by relying on the air purifier but with the help of Claribel they were saved. If children rely on their technology (cell phones) they may end up just like the spacers, stuck in relying on technology. I wouldn't want to be relying on my cell-phone all the time and neither should you.

For conclusion many people do have cell-phones and I'm not saying cell-phones are bad in fact they're pretty good. But young children should not have them I hope you enjoyed and now agree with me/find my point reasonable. Thank you and like it! Also if you find any flaws let me know!

-Anna Jardon
