I feel more comfortable instructing reading than with writing. I think this is because there is a bigger push for students to read than to write, but reading adn writing go hand in hand.

Reading 101 and 202 helped me understand the importance of explicit, structured instruction. I still have a lot to learn about teaching reading and writing in English, so I don’t feel very confident yet. I’m still working on supporting multilingual learners, but I’m committed to growing through reflection and practice.

I worked as the K-8th grade Reading and Writing Specialist for the last two years. Prior to stepping into this role, I took Orton-Gillingham training because I didn't have a solid understanding of how to teach literacy to the tiny human varieties. I feel most confident using Orton-Gillingham. . . It would be nice to see reading from a wider lens, so I am super excited. I really want to be able to help my ML students more than I feel that I do or can.

I feel confident on the writing instruction, I see the connection of the importance to bridge reading and writing for learning. Writing is fun and knowing where my students are to provide the right supports is the key for success.
