  • Animals are kept in captivity because many consider it to be much safer. However, they often feel caged, their environment is fake and not natural, etc.

  • They are put in cages that doesn't allow them to move freely.
  • They are often forced to withstand some sort of annoyance from people banging on their glass, if they have one that is meant to keep them in.

    • Most animals, depending on the zoo, that are kept in captivity have a much shorter lifespan. For example, an elephant can live up to 36 years in the wild but most that are in captivity only live up to 17 years.
    • Those that are kept in captivity illegally are physically abused and drugged. 
    • They cannot move freely because their space is much more limited than in the wild.
    There are more reasons but these are (some) of the important ones.

  • More often than not, they are hurt if they cannot do what it is they're being forced to.
