Although I am currently a junior and would not be able to benefit from it myself, it was a very fun and enriching experience learning Japanese in summer school. Me and my brother both took the class and had a lot of fun. 
I'm learning Japanese because I like a certain Japanese singer, Mafumafu, and I also like reading manga and occasionally translate manga. I think it'd also help with diversity in PCEP, with most of our current languages being Eurocentric, etc. I'm sure many kids would be interested, as I had quite a lot of fun and I know there are a good deal of anime fans at PCEP.

I made friends and helped me be able to be able to talk to people in the language besides just taking notes. Though I love learning Japanese by myself, It’s limited how much I can learn through not having an actual class. I have personal experience with this since I have loved the idea of learning French since I was little and having an actual class at pcep helped me so much! I’m in French 3 right now and I’m going to continue French for the rest of high school and am most likely going to France for school in February. I can have conversations and understand it so much better. I wish there was something like this for Japanese since it’s so hard for me to learn so much without an in-person teacher and other students I can connect with. Which is why I would love a class at pcep for this.
