Engineers are out on the field innovating and improving the way society goes about their day. Since engineers highly impact the way society functions they should be able to put themselves in their shoes and see what they really need in order to improve their way of life. Being able to understand multiple points of view and settling down on a compromise is something that I believe is necessary as an engineer. With this comes along critical thinking skills and improvement on social skills.

If I was the last person alive, I would not drop the nukes. My reason for this is that although I may feel very lonely and might even go crazy, I wouldn't kill myself and other sentient beings on the planet. I would try my best to live through this new and difficult life out in the environment all alone. I would be truly connected with nature. In a sense our ancestors definitely did this in the past. They might have had a group of people with them so in this case I might join a pack of gorillas or something and coexist with them. Therefore, I am no longer alone and I have a "family" to linger with.

I believe I fall in-between these scales not really opposing one side more than the other. I side with the anthropocentric side because nature is an essential item of modern society and even centuries ago. We use nature for our benefit and survival. On the other hand, I also believe that nature on its own is also valuable because like humans, animals require the essence of nature in order to survive. Nature is valuable on its own without the intrusion of mankind.

I indeed believe that humans belong at the top of the pyramid. Compared to every other living species on the planet humans have conquered locations all over the world and have adapted to nearly every possible situation. As a species humans have evolved and progressed greatly which deserves the path of vast opportunities.

I do plan to have children in the far future because I want to empower someone who is really close to me. I want to teach them about the world and have them be the "saviors" of the next generations. I believe that having children is like passing down your legacy and goals of to someone else and do good for the world. The future is passed on our offspring. So being able to raise empowering children for years to come can play a big role in the bigger picture.

Technology isn't dangerous unless its main purpose is to do harm towards others. This includes things such as weapons of any kind. However, any piece of technology can serve as very dangerous because there will always be the slightest hint that it can be used to cause damage towards others. Every piece of technology can be considered a double edged sword depending on the intentions the wielders are thinking about.

A cost-benefit analysis can sort a lot of different issues; however, it does have its limit. For example, knowing that you can save a small little town or people in need of food or shelter would benefit them all greatly in different ways. Unfortunately the cost to achieve something of this magnitude would be more than we can imagine. It seems like the right thing to do but the cost in order to accomplish such ideal seems impossible.

My opinion about having kids does change in some way. If we were to have less people on the planet we would be able to flourish more and be able to help more people out. We would also cause less damage to the environment and not become heavily invasive towards other ecosystems that are already struggling to survive. In this case, I am looking more into adopting children because they don't have the care that normal kids have so why not provide that care to them and reduce bringing more people into the world.
