The calendar that the Mayans used in the ancient world is the same track of time that we use today to count one solar year. We use 365 today, and they did too. However, they did use 18 months and 20 days per month, but we still believe that it is crazy that they figured out such an accurate way to tell time at such an ancient era.

Their calendar was taken further and was more accurate than any of them at the time. This is incredible considering how many civilizations had thought up of the idea of the calendar and time. It was so accurate, in fact, that it was used for about four thousand years as the most accurate calendar in the world for all of the time it was used.

The observatories were built to study the moon and sun to get the most accurate time possible. It took a very long time to study and create not one, but two calendars, one for their solar year, and one for their ritual year. They are both completely different calendars that had to be thought of and studied to be viable in their cities to use as a reliable calendar.

It is by far the most remarkable discovery just by how much time and effort was put into this calendar, and it is crazy just how perfect and spot-on it is. Some of the other achievements are remarkable, but they all fall short when they are compared to the calendar. It took a lot of brain power, coordination, and it was a very significant invention. The genius in the calendar was that it is so perfect and you had to be very smart and educated to make such a thing as the Mayan calendar. It also took a lot of effort. They built whole buildings dedicated to just making and perfecting this calendar, and they had whole jobs dedicated to the calendar making. This is a very significant invention, as well, because even in such an ancient world, they could think and make such an invention that is both accurate and very reliable for telling time.
