This means Yumi's family can't afford to pay for her school until she passes a placement test to get free tuition. During Yumi's tutoring, she finds a registration for a comedy camp run by her favorite comic, Jasmine Jasper. She ends up going, but as a different person. Yumi has to find the courage to stand up and be truthful about her false identity in oder to not risk disappointing so many people. This book relates to the theme of confidence and speaking up for oneself because Yumi has always been in the shadows of her sister, which has prohibited her from being able to be her true self. However, once she gets the opportunity, she then is under a false identity which, again, causes issues within the novel.
