    In the north east we there are a lot of art biased events at places such as the Baltic and late shows. its good to go to these events as it gives you an opportunity to make contacts with people in the industry, they can offer advice and tips. 

    Advice and help for setting up a small/freelance business?: There are websites you can visit that give advice on how to set up your business. There is also bic which offer support for business planning, funding and legal stuff. Banks such as natewst help with loans but give no other types of supports. 
    Personally I think i would need a lot of support and help I would use bic over the government website because it seems to be more hands on and helpful. 

    local working spaces?
    There are a range of places that have shared working spaces. The advantages of using a shared space are:
    • Free from hassle as the space is already set up for you 
    • You can chose the appropriate package that fits your needs  
    • Free parking 
    • Fast internet 
    • Less expensive 
    • Nentors on sight
    Northern design center- have free membership if you take your own laptop etc and just need a space to work or paid for memberships with things provided for you. 
    The open space- have people there to work closely with you and your business, and flexible packages at different prices to fit your needs. 
    Mushroom works- stdio space, as well as excellent facilities that are there to use for no extra cost. 
    I would prefer to work somewhere like the open space where there are people there who can help you if you happen to need it they may not have as many facilities as the mushroom works but the support they offer is better for me.
