It worked well to help them compare the similarities and differences between the two types of cells, but the space for the commonalities is always a struggle for them to make and write in. Now we use an "I" chart---same concept but it looks like a capital letter I (think "T chart), the left and right sides each have one category, and at the bottom you write what they have in common.
