2) Narrated Jabir Ibn Samurah (radiallahuanhu): I used to observe prayer with the Prophetﷺ  and his Salat (prayer) was of a moderate length and his (Khutbah) sermon too was moderate in length. Sahih Muslim 866 a (Book 4, Hadith 1883)

This Hadith tells us that Imam should neither lengthen the Salat nor give long sermon in the congregational Salat because both these things are against the practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

The third man said: I will not marry.  We learn from these two Hadeeth that: -We should not stand up in prayer all night long. We can pray part of the night, but we need our sleep and rest. -We can offer optional fast seeking to get close to Allah, but not every day. Three days of each month is quite sufficient as the Prophet (PBUH) told us. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:] “Let no believing man hate a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics he will be pleased with another.”

This last man is the one who is moderate. The second one is extreme in his dealings with his wife, and the first is falling short.

Ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, drew a line with his hand and he said:

هَذَا سَبِيلُ اللَّهِ مُسْتَقِيمًا

This is the straight path of Allah.

Then the Prophet drew lines to the right and left and he said:

هَذِهِ السُّبُلُ وَلَيْسَ مِنْهَا سَبِيلٌ إِلَّا عَلَيْهِ شَيْطَانٌ يَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ

These are other paths and there is not a path among them but that a devil is upon it calling to its way.
